Frangipane Tart

Frangipane tart is an eggless sweet almond cream filling that can be used with baked pastries and cake. It is also known as ‘frangipani’ in Italian and ‘creme frangipane’ in French, and it’s very similar to  Apple Almond Tart.

Ingredients

Apple -1/2 (peeled and sliced)
Unsweetened Applesauce – 1/8cup
Caster sugar – 2tbsp / 20 gm
Unsalted butter – 1/8 cup or 30 gm
Vanilla extract – 1/8 tsp
Almond meal -28gm / 1/4 cup
All purpose flour -15 gm / 1 1/4 tbsp
Baking powder -1/4 tsp
Baking soda -1/8 tsp
Salt -1/8tsp
Vinegar- 1/4 tsp

The first step is to preheat your oven at 170C. Mix cream butter and sugar with a hand blender till the mixture is light, then add applesauce and vinegar. Beat the mixture again using the hand blender for some time.

Now add the sieved almond meal and mix well. Then sieve together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and add it to the almond butter mixture. Lightly mix both the mixtures and prepare a batter, no need to use a blender.

Now put the batter into a piping bag. Pipe it into a greased loose baking pan and arrange apple slices over the batter. Bake it in a preheated oven for 20-23 mins at 170C.

For garnishing sprinkle icing sugar.  You can serve in both ways warm or cold.

(If you wish to use egg, remove the applesauce vinegar and baking soda and add 1/2 egg approx 27 gms)
