Easy Airfryer Cherry Handpies

Easy cherry hand pies made with flaky puff pastry and a jammy cherry filling, brushed with milk, sprinkled with sugar, and baked or air fried to golden perfection.

Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cherries pitted
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar adjust based on cherry sweetness
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Assembly:

  • 1 large sheet of store-bought puff pastry thawed
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

Filling

  • In a small saucepan, combine cherries, brown sugar, cornflour, and lemon juice.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and becomes jam-like (about 8–10 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and let cool completely.

Hand Pies

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or set your air fryer to 360°F (180°C).
  • Lightly flour your work surface with 1 tablespoon of flour and roll out the puff pastry sheet. Cut into 4 equal-sized parts
  • Spoon a 1-2 tbsp of cherry filling onto the bottom half of the rectangles, leaving a ½-inch border.
  • Place the remaining rectangles on top of the filled ones. Use a fork to crimp the edges and seal. Score the tops of each pie with a knife to allow steam to escape.
  • Brush the tops of the pies with milk and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  • For Baking: Arrange pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  • For Air Frying: Place pies in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 10–12 minutes, or until crisp and golden.
